There’s a Tracks of 2012 post coming up shortly…but first, I realised recently that there are a fair few tracks I still need to blog about this year – and this is the first in the run that’s coming, from Dan Croll:

Dan Croll – From Nowhere

Dan Croll - From Nowhere

Dan Croll - From Nowhere EP (2012)

We put this up as a Track of the Week on Ricall‘s facebook a few months back and even then, what struck me is how different it was to everything else I could find from Dan Croll.

Where this is dance-y, tropical, sunny, along the lines of Foals or Friendly Fires perhaps, check out Home, for example…exact opposite – a bit more James Vincent McMorrow / Michael Kiwanuka even. Versatile, yes?

He’s the latest find from Liverpool for me – since Stealing Sheep – and doesn’t seem to currently be on a label but has had a fair bit of air play.

He’s also been getting some love from the BBC’s Annie Mac and Huw Stephens plus Guardian New Band of the Day so far.

There’s a sneaky preview of what looks like will be the next single on his soundcloud…more please.
