The second song (in the acoustic duo) is by singer-songwriter, Patrick Watson.

Patrick Watson - Wooden Arms (2009)

I’ve mentioned him briefly before when I wrote about The Cinematic Orchestra over a year ago – but that was about them, this is about him.

Patrick Watson – Man Like You

His show at the Tabernacle in July was, without a doubt, one of the best live performances of the year for me so far.

Not only was the venue the perfect setting, his voice even more incredibly resonant live than expected and the accompaniment from the band and strings, especially the percussionist, intense enough to create a sound absorbed into every crevice of the room – Patrick Watson brought personality to the performance with every word, to make the audience feel as though they were a part of it, rather than mere observers.

The highlight for me was, of course, To Build A Home, but also when he and the band came out into the middle of the audience to perform with a strange lighting and sound contraption strapped to Patrick’s back and a saw. There was more to it. I just really remember the saw.

This song is from his 2009 album, Wooden Arms, and he’s working on a new album due for release later this year. You can stream the first single, ‘Sit Down Beside Mehere, on

I can’t wait.
