Ray LaMontagne – You Can Bring Me Flowers

For some reason walking past this flower stall every day, colours and fragrances and smiles, all I could think of was this Dean Martin classic:

Dean Martin – That’s Amore

Over and over and over again.

I know I’ve seen it millions of times soundtracking something or other in popular culture but couldn’t remember what so I Wikipedia’d and came across this reference:

“On an episode of WWF Smackdown! where Stone Cold Steve Austin is beating on Booker T in the frozen food aisle, Austin grabs a frozen pizza and a large sausage roll and sings the first verse of the song before striking Booker T in the head with the pizza.”

Wikipedia – That’s Amore (song)

Genius!!

As timeless as it is, I wanted to throw something a bit less chirpy into the mix…It’s available on spotify but not last.fm so here’s a brief clip on amazon.com that gives you the gist of it instead:

There were stands like this one every few blocks and I like this photo because I’d like to think there’s a story there… not sure what, exactly, but a story…

    That’s a sad… sad… song!

Have you heard his other material? I think you’d like him – start with Trouble. Fantastic album. You remember ‘Hold You In My Arms’? It was the song Nimi walked down the aisle to at their wedding.
