Ellie Goulding Transformed
I try really hard to keep this blog positive. I only write about music I like – if I don’t like it, I don’t slate it… it just gets ignored. I’m making one small roundabout exception today. A dislike switched up into a like.
I wouldn’t call myself a fan of Ellie Goulding. (oh no. I actually said it. In writing.).
This started it (It was ok the first time I heard it at the Enterprise, but a second listen didn’t work for me):
Youtube: Bon Iver Cover – Ellie Goulding
This confirmed it:
Youtube: Ellie Goulding – Sweet Disposition
I’m not saying anything. Just click on the links and also maybe note the fact that for me, these two songs in particular are modern-day treasures.
BUT Chiddy Bang have remixed away my feelings. You might have heard ‘Opposite of Adults’, their take on MGMT’s ‘Kids’ – this isn’t as fun, or as summer party. It did surprise me though:
Ellie Goulding – Under the sheets (Chiddy Bang Remix)
I reckon it might actually make it onto my iPhone other than as a podcast (I found it on Hype Machine’s Popular Blog Tracks).
Here’s another one, by Jakwob – wait for the bass to kick in:
Ellie Goulding – Starry Eyes (Jakwob Remix)
I think… I get why Ellie’s doing so well. Her own stuff is pretty catchy, danceable music and the remixes are great – I’m just not so sure about the emotional covers…
