On a bit of a summer trip right now, following the few minutes of sunshine we’ve had, and this is definitely going on the iPod playlist. Surprised me a little the first time when the laughing kids didn’t break into the familiar MGMT – Kids riff – it’s a bit of a mashed up alternative version of it instead.
Elements of hip-hop, electronica, indie-pop and most of all, beats that’ll perfectly soundtrack a party in the summer sunshine.
This is from their Opposite of Adults EP, released in February on EMI – they’re touring at the moment and will be at London’s Scala on 27 May.
Aside from loving the track itself, the cheeky homage to MGMT in the title deserves a little nod.
Opposite of Adults = Kids = the title of the MGMT song they mashed up the riff from! Geddit?!
