Faith Evans – Ain’t Nobody
If you know where this has come from it’s possible you read the note posted up here on Monday.
The main lyrics to this promptly appeared in my head after writing that post, admittedly a little wrong, and are just about the exact opposite of Band of Horses’ “No one’s gonna love you more than I do”, as is the song itself.
Faith Evans’ song is ol’ skool R&B, 1995 in fact, written from the perspective of a woman, talking about how there would never be any reason to cheat on her man because, since he came into her life, she’s found strength, and direction. There’s no need to stray because she knows that no one could ever love her as much as he does.
Band of Horses’ song is noughties indie rock, that appears to be written from the perspective of a man, after a relationship has fallen apart (I’m guessing it’s not the same relationship…). He’s trying really hard to make her feel better, but it’s not working – so it’s over but…no one’s ever going to love her as much as he does.
The last part of each of those descriptions seems to be pretty much the same, but with a completely different meaning, from a completely different perspective.
I’m just saying. Coincidence…?
Most likely. Yes. :)
Oh yeah. The song:

Fantastic 90s R&B. There’s more here if you want it (playlist #4).
