It’s time to post about The Seal Cub Clubbing Club again.

The first time was back in April when I came across their sound thanks to working at Five Missions More, the second time was when they agreed to play The Twitgigs Experiment in August and this is the third. I keep doing it because I’m wondering why more people aren’t raving about them…my conclusion: it’s only a matter of time.

The Seal Cub Clubbing Club – Peewit (12 Beds)

That link’ll direct you to their MySpace, where you can hear the song at the moment, but there’s also a sneaky live video of the track from their performance at The Twitgigs Experiment on youtube.

The Seal Cub Clubbing Club - Super Science Fiction

Their sound is clearly in the indie category but it’s anything but standard. Disjointed, jarring, melodious, dramatic, intense, fun – not words I’d normally combine with the intention of conveying praise but that’s how I feel about this song.

It isn’t all like this. Aurienteering has more of an indie-pop vibe, Dawn Lamb is a crazy dance inducer and Slow-Motion Powerslides (In Dee) is just epic.

The band are embarking on a UK tour early next year, stopping over at 93 Feet East on 13th Feb and doing a BBC 6music session with Marc Riley a couple of days before. They’ve been recording for the second album which will be released on indie label Jack to Phono and if it’s anywhere near being in the same league as Super Science Fiction, I’ll be grabbing a copy as soon as it’s out.

Keep an eye on their facebook page for news of other dates and an ear out for Made of Magic…
