I stumbled across this using Peel (recent discovery for me) and was instantly hooked in by the sample from Dr. Dre’s Xxplosive, which I just found out is actually from an old Soul Mann & the Brothers track.
She sounds a little bit like Aaliyah around some of the high notes and it’s a cracking little cover, at least in my opinion. A heck of a lot smoother than the Dirty Projectors version which, as you’d probably expect, is a lot more electro with an echoing indie vocal:

Solange Knowles is little sister to Mrs. Z, aka Beyoncé Knowles and has actually released two studio albums herself!
I’m a little ashamed to say so – but I had no idea.
