Day Two: Tx/Rx
I found this band around the same time as This Is Me Smiling – when I knew I wanted to work with music but I didn’t know what I wanted to do. I used to trawl through MySpace pages in my spare time looking for little-known bands that might be willing to let me play their tracks on my baby internet radio stream (it actually only lasted about a year because of licensing and royalty costs – but I loved it.)
I think people’ll either find the vocal high-impact and emotive or…grating. It isn’t smooth, in any sense of the word, and reminds me of Wheatus who sang Teenage Dirtbag, but at least it’s memorable.
This one’s upbeat and fun to sing along to and the other favourite of mine, User Friendly, is a bit darker and heavier. Both are up on their MySpace at the moment.
I doubt there’s much chance of them coming over here, but I have their first EP and am planning to be over in the US next year so who knows? Maybe if they’re still gigging I’ll get the chance to catch a live show at some point…
