This Is Me Smiling – Goodbye to Each New Day
Teen high school rock week has arrived!
Day One: This Is Me Smiling
I don’t think they’re teenagers, or in high school – at least they don’t look like they are from their photos. The reason they’re fitting into this theme is that their sound is one I’d associate with the “cool” high school prom rock band, from a movie like She’s All That, or Never Been Kissed, or 10 Things I Hate About You. Or the band the OC kids would’ve snuck out to see without telling their parents…

The song is up in full on their MySpace at the moment, along with a few others and, although they haven’t released anything since 2007, they posted on their blog a while back that they’d be releasing a follow-up to their self-titled debut sometime this year. No news yet.
I love the track because of the lyrics. These lyrics, specifically:
“There was nothing to anticipate / The car ride over was better than the date”
“I rang the doorbell, she answered right away / It was almost like she’d been waiting there all day”
They raise a smile, every time.
