Phantogram – When I’m Small

Phantogram - Eyelid Music

Another one from the WAH emerging playlist – I hadn’t heard of them until the playlist but a bit of digging has revealed that another of my current favourite bands, Post War Years, are supporting them in Bristol this coming Tuesday (or you can catch them sin PWY at The Fly this Sunday).

Phantogram – When I’m Small

The band are Joshua Carter and Sarah Barthel of NYC and this track is from their September 2009 album, Eyelid Movies, released on BBE.

When I’m Small has an electro-experimental vibe, and sounds to me like the creation that would emerge if Little Dragon and Autolux were locked in a studio for a week to fight out their respective influences – floaty curiosity with a darker, alluring edge.

It isn’t all exactly like this. As Far As I Can See (spotify link) has more of a hip-hop/soul feel to it and Mouthful Of Diamonds (MySpace) is quite indie-pop, similar in style to Metric.

I can’t go this week but their MySpace says they’re back in November so I’m thinking I’ll try then. Another one for the wishlist…
