The Phenomenal Handclap Band – Testimony

I had intended to make this an American teen high-school rock week but forgot and posted about The Nextmen on Monday and then came across this when I was looking at TPHB’s MySpace to see if they’re coming back over here any time soon (they aren’t) so it’ll have to wait.

The Phenomenal Handclap Band – Testimony

I’d always thought this band was electro party music…and sometimes they are – 15 to 20, You’ll Disappear, very catchy electro disco-pop – but they also have a more soulful side. This track, along with Baby, is a perfect example.

Low-fi, atmospheric, spaced out and a little bit retro – sixties-style psychedelic guitar riffs slowed to a down-tempo stroll.

The track is featured on their self-titled 2009 release, The Phenomenal Handclap Band, which is available to stream in full on we7.
