Norwegian indie/rock artist Ida Maria released this track and the heavily radio-played ‘I Like You So Much Better When You’re Naked’ in 2008 and has since disappeared from our airwaves. It looks from her MySpace as though she’s touring the US at the moment but even so, I’m disappointed we haven’t heard anything from her for a while.

Her extremely catchy tunes and perfect-for-singalong choruses are infectious and I even have an accountancy-related story for one of them which I will relay shortly (contain yout excitement please…). But first, the song:

I actually prefer this track to ‘I Like You…’, partly because I don’t blush and feel the need to look down at my shoes when I accidentally sing along to it on the tube.  Speaking of…

Early on in my dealings with a client at the firm where I used to work, I was in a conference call with my manager and had the Finance Manager of the client on the other end of the call – we were discussing some tax issues and I could hear the radio playing in the background at their end. It was all fine and unintrusive until I suddenly hear the words:

“What the hell am I doing this for??!
You’re just another guy…”

and twigged about what was coming. Even though I was expecting it I couldn’t help looking at my manager with a smirk on my face and just about succeeded in supressing out loud laughter when “I like you so much better when you’re naked” blared through the phone! Lucky it wasn’t a video conference or I would’ve had to leave the room – it’s just not the kind of thing you’re prepared for during a business call!

Maybe you had to be there…

Incidentally, this song is on the “Sunny Side Up” spotify playlist on the  Spotify page. I’m really flattered Paolo Nutini cribbed the name for his new album. Obviously it means he must be reading my blog…
