The Cinematic Orchestra – To Build A Home

I was actually looking for another song, called ‘That Home’ – I shazamed it a week or so ago watching some teenage TV drama, can’t remember which one – but I came across this one along the way.

The piano piece conveys a similarly mournful melancholy to the intro for Adele’s ‘Hometown Glory’ and also reminds me a little of ‘Strange and Beautiful’ by Aqualung.

It builds to a beautiful crescendo as the track progresses, and then pulls away before peaking for a second time. Warm, soulful vocals from Patrick Watson add to the overall textured richness of sound.

This particular track is from the 2007 album, ‘Ma Fleur’, released on London-based independent label Ninja Tune.  More on the MySpace.
