Blur – This Is a Low

I don’t know about everyone else but I was firmly in the Blur camp back in the 1990s when the battle was raging in full force – and still am.

Blur – This Is a Low

Alex James (and the rest of Blur)

Alex James (and the rest of Blur)

Had a bit of a schoolgirl crush on bassist Alex James, but aside from that, their music had an emotive sense – be it a bit angsty and depressive like this one, or cheekily upbeat like ‘Parklife’ and ‘Girls & Boys’, or the nonchalance of ‘End of the Century’ – and variety that outshone the steady rock ‘n’ roll vibe of Oasis, for me, in any case.

I’m stoked they’re reforming, if only even for a short while,  and hope to catch a gig at some point this Summer.
