Joe Allen Band – Please Don’t Just Stare At Me

It took a bit of rooting around (a.k.a. trying various ” configurations on Señor Google*) but managed to find a full length version of the track on ReverbNation, along with some others:

Joe Allen Band – Please Don’t Just Stare At Me

Joe Allen Band

Joe Allen Band

Oxford-based 22 year-old  singer-songwriter Joe Allen’s stunning vocal conveys a passionate longing reminiscent of Jeff Buckley and a Damien Rice-esque honesty fused with a Radiohead- and perhaps even Muse-style despair.

Angharad Jenkins on the violin adds a rural folk feel to this track, in particular, but also the repertoire’s distinctive sound overall.

Others I particularly liked are up on the MySpace, including ‘Call It What You Like’, ‘At Gunpoint’ and ‘Do You Think That’s Enough’.

I keep missing their London shows but would love to hear them live some day…maybe with Radiohead supporting ;)
